This project includes the design of a detached accessory dwelling unit (ADU) located on the same property as the primary custom residence in Encinitas. The custom ADU was conceived as an independent architectural structure while maintaining a cohesive relationship with the main home.

Constructed from cast-in-place concrete, the ADU reflects the same material language and modern architectural character as the primary residence. The use of exposed concrete provides durability, thermal mass, and a strong visual connection between the two structures.

The compact footprint is carefully organized to create an efficient and comfortable living environment with strong connections to outdoor space. Large openings provide natural light and ventilation while maintaining privacy within the site.

A defining feature of the ADU is the rooftop garden terrace, which creates an elevated outdoor living space while maximizing usable landscape area. The rooftop garden serves as a private retreat and reinforces the integration of architecture with the surrounding environment.

Together with the main residence, the ADU contributes to a modern residential compound that reflects the coastal lifestyle and contemporary architectural character of Encinitas.
