Project Overview
The Lamont Multi-Family Housing project was developed in collaboration with Complete Community Housing Solutions (CCHS) as a residential development located in the Pacific Beach neighborhood of San Diego.
The architectural concept organizes the building into a series of row-style residential volumes, breaking down the mass of the structure into distinct vertical sections. This approach helps reduce the perceived scale of the building while creating a strong rhythm along the street frontage.
A defining design element is the use of bold V-shaped structural posts that extend from the ground level to the second floor, supporting the upper residential levels while serving as a prominent architectural feature. These expressive structural elements reinforce the building’s vertical composition and contribute to the identity of the façade.
The design draws inspiration from mid-century modern architecture, emphasizing simple forms, structural expression, and a balance between vertical and horizontal elements. A combination of materials is used to articulate the façade, while deep overhangs and horizontal roof soffits create shade and shadow, adding depth and visual texture to the building.
The result is a contemporary multi-family housing design that blends mid-century architectural influence with modern urban residential design, contributing to the evolving character of the Pacific Beach housing community.
