This project involved the design of a detached two-story accessory dwelling unit (ADU) located in Del Mar, California. The design maximizes usable living space within a compact footprint by organizing the program vertically while maintaining a balanced relationship with the surrounding residential context.

The lower level accommodates primary living functions while the upper level provides private sleeping areas, allowing the unit to function as a fully independent residence. Large windows and carefully positioned openings introduce natural light throughout the interior while capturing views and coastal breezes.

The architectural approach emphasizes simple forms, clean lines, and a restrained material palette appropriate for the coastal character of Del Mar. The result is a thoughtfully designed ADU that provides comfortable living space while complementing the scale and character of the surrounding neighborhood.
